About the Course: This course
is designed to introduce you clipping and styling. It is suitable for those entering the industry who wish to start
working as a groomer or open there own business, this is the shortest course in which a beginner could learn to clip and trim
all pet breeds in basic styles and includes business and salon management, cpr and first-aid for pet care professionals. What will I learn?
Prepare and groom dogs prior to bathing. Professional Dematting and Deshedding techniques.
Bathe and clean dogs.
Ear and nail care.
Clean
and maintain equipment used for grooming or removing hair from animals.
Control and
restrain animals.
Breed recognition and anatomy and terminology.
Tools, clippers, blades and there uses.
Dry dogs and prepare their coats
for styling.
Carry out styling and finishing of dogs.
Assessment and planning of dog grooming work.
All
breed pet trims clip offs, puppy trims, teddy trims, lamb trims and how to adapt these to suit all pet breed.
Grooming,
thinning and scissoring techniques.
Promote and maintain the health and wellbeing of animals.
Health checking
a dog by a dog groomer.
Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security.
Moving
animals between locations.
Business and salon managment and design
Pet Cpr and first-aid for animal care professional
Maintain the cleanliness and
bio security of the animal care working environment.
Health & safety and current
animal welfare legislation

Entry requirements:
There
are no formal entry qualifications required to start this course, however a good standard of literacy is required to read,
interpret and complete written tasks. A love of dogs and physically fit as this course will involve long periods of standing
and lifting of dogs.
Duration: 12 days approx 10am
to 3pm daily
Attendance: Tailored to suit 1/2/3/4/5 days
per week by arrangement
Certification: National Open College
Network Level 2 and 3 Certificate Intermediate Dog Grooming, Clipping and Styling, business salon managment and first-aid
and cpr Certificates and Smartpets Diploma in Dog Grooming.
OPTIONAL City&Guilds Introductory Level 3
Certificate in Dog Grooming Qualification additional 2 days plus 100hrs of home study theory powerpoints will be given. Additional
fee £85 for written exam held in june and novemeber each year.
